That summary score? It’s a headline. Not the article.
I ignore it first. Always.
The narrative commentary is where the truth hides. Phrases like “consistently applies system despite shifting priorities” mean someone adapts on the fly. (Not just “good under pressure”.
Quadrant placement tells you what’s missing (not) just what’s strong. High F / low N? You’ve got a technical expert who can’t read the room.
That’s lazy.) But “relies on precedent when conditions change”? That’s a red flag. It means they freeze when the script changes.
They’ll debug your server but miss why the team’s demoralized. Visualize it like a compass: north = big-picture thinking, east = execution speed, south = people awareness, west = systems rigor.
Strong B + weak F isn’t “soft skills need work.” It’s values alignment with real skill gaps in execution. Don’t call it “interpersonal development.” Call it “shipping things on time.”
Check report integrity before you act:
- Was observation over at least 3 distinct interactions?
- Were observers trained on this specific rubric (not) just “gave feedback before”?
Development Anchors is the most ignored section. And the most useful. It’s not fluff.
It’s your 90-day action plan (if) you translate it. “Seeks input before finalizing scope” becomes: Ask two teammates for feedback before locking any sprint goal.
